Higher Level Apprentice

Nitec Solutions Limited is seeking a motivated and engaged Higher Level Apprentice (HLA) to join our team, who is beginning their first year of study in 2025. Applicants must have either received a non-conditional offer or already have started their studies in September or October 2025. Applicants must be on a 3 year Higher Level Apprenticeship course in partnership with a further education college.

The ideal candidate should have a genuine interest in IT, be self-driven, with a strong desire for problem solving and critical thinking. You will join a cohort of Higher Level Apprentices who are dedicated to not only providing fantastic support for our customers, but are excited to learn and develop in their knowledge and skillset within a Service Desk setting.

Please note: this apprenticeship role will be placed in our Service Desk department, we are unable to facilitate any apprentices in software development, cyber security, projects and networking, sales, marketing, or accountancy.

This role has an immediate start date, and will require in office attendance in our Antrim Office, for at least 3 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

Our HLA role is a varied role, with a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in a wide range of areas. Whilst not an extensive list, the successful candidate should expect their role to include;

  • Be the first point of contact for IT support to Nitec clients.
  • Deliver solutions in a friendly, approachable, and helpful manner.
  • Record and manage service requests in our ticketing system.
  • Provide diagnostic and troubleshooting for IT issues.
  • Ensure timely resolution, escalating issues to other teams as needed.
  • Log accurate and detailed engineering notes on Nitec’s internal systems.
  • Follow defined procedures on common IT issues.
  • Think creatively and strategically to diagnose issues.
  • Work as part of a larger team in delivering resolution.

  • Is organised, with excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Is a people person, with strong interpersonal skills.

Ideal Qualifications/Experience

This role will be carried out in partnership with your learning journey, so whilst the following would be ideal, they are not essential;

  • A GCSE/A-Level (or equivalent) in IT, Computing Science, or equivalent
  • A level 5 or higher qualification/certificate
  • Microsoft Certifications (specifically MS-900, AZ-900, or SC-900)
  • Involvement with extra circular activities which demonstrate a skill or passion in IT.

Due to the nature of the role, it is preferrable if candidates hold a UK Drivers Licence with access to a reliable car, and business cover insurance.
