Over the years, Nitec has developed a full managed service portfolio in order to live up to our claim of providing holistic technology solutions.
In terms of core infrastructure solutions, we cover the entire solution lifecycle from initial business familiarisation, technical consultancy, and network design through to project planning and implementation, and finally through to the ongoing technical support of the network solution through its service.
Alongside these core infrastructure services, we also address business' technology requirements through a range of augmentary services, such as training and software development.
Once the core infrastructure has been rationalised into a reliable and robust platform for a business' ongoing development, we can add further value through these additional services. Training ensures administrators and / or end users are empowered to get the most from the new functionality available. Our business consulting and software development can assist a client's further growth and development through, for example, improved systems for collaboration and information sharing.

Nitec's consulting team are evangelical about technology. Unlike most IT "salespeople", our consultants are all deeply steeped in technological knowledge and all come from technical backgrounds. This technical knowledge puts us in a unique position to design solutions that actually stand up to the promises we make.
Combining this in-depth technical knowledge with many years of best-practise knowledge built up from working with businesses just like yours gives us the skill-set to identify problems and design technical solutions that truly add value.
Ranging from basic product-centric sales advice, to more strategic long-term IT planning, Nitec’s consultancy team seeks to empower clients’ decision-making by drawing on years of industry experience to provide the most well-informed guidance possible.
In addition to core infrastructure consulting, we offer business solutions consultancy around enhancing business process through both bespoke software solutions and the Microsoft Dynamics business productivity range, (Sharepoint and CRM). With many clients now seeing the value of building upon the strong infrastructure platform we provide with business productivity solutions to enhance collaboration and knowledge-sharing, this is a current area of growth for the company.

On-time and on-budget - it's a matter of principle.
Our project implementation team focus on project-based work: primarily the implementation of new networks and upgrade of clients' existing networks.
The team boasts decades of industry experience in systems administration and have collectively accumulated the experience through hundreds of major network upgrades.
As well as possessing the very highest levels of technical knowledge, our project team are all experienced project managers with all the organisational skills necessary to ensure the smoothest possible technology transition with the minimum possible levels of downtime and disruption.
Additionally, they act as a point of escalation for our support team in instances where a problem may require specialised knowledge.

Nitec's technical support services are based on a simple and equitable hourly and daily rate billing model. We do not charge annual or monthly fixed amounts regardless of whether or not a client actually requires our services in that period. Rather, time is simply billed as it is required leading to complete clarity in terms of the value proposition we offer.
Despite this lack of fixed support charges, every managed service client still benefits from a same business day service level agreement, remote network monitoring through our own proprietary software, and regular strategic review meetings with a senior network consultant. We believe this is a level of added-value service clients should enjoy by default rather than as a factor of their willingness to pay for a service they may not even receive.
In terms of support quality, the support team has the experience and collective knowledge built up in the day-to-day support of hundreds of client networks which provides clients with the peace of mind that they will receive the very highest levels of support.
Our engineers are all Microsoft and Hewlett Packard certified to approriate levels for their role and every member of the technical staff has a personal development plan to ensure that their levels of qualification are both adequate to fulfil their roles and that they are updated to reflect changes in technology.
Our support team consists of remote helpdesk and onsite engineers who are responsible for both servicing the day-to-day support requirements of clients and for onsite installation of new equipment, such as laptops, PCs, and printers.
The team is conceptually split into remote helpdesk and onsite engineers, with onsite engineers further split between onsite support duties and new equipment installs.
In reality, the engineering resource is highly flexible, however, allowing for re-deployment between onsite and remote as demands require to ensure the optimal levels of service for clients. Whilst the helpdesk maintains a dedicated staffing level at all times, onsite engineers frequently augment the first-line support staff to ensure fast response times are maintained.

Nitec has had a bespoke software development arm since the company's inception ten years ago and the team has a proven track record in delivering value-add software solutions to both public and private sector organisations.
In more recent years, the team has diversified into providing solutions built on the expanding Microsoft Dynamics range of products - primarily leveraging the Microsoft Sharepoint and Microsoft CRM platforms. This has become an area of rapid growth for the company boasting a number of high profile projects built on both platforms.
In the Microsoft Dynamics field, Nitec is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner with the "Information Worker Solutions" competency and is also a Microsoft CRM Certified Partner.
Many of the development projects undertaken by Nitec have been designed to further enhance the optimised core infrastructure solutions of existing clients but, equally, projects are undertaken on a standalone basis for new clients.
The software development team consist of both experienced business consultants and experienced software architects / developers. In our consulting role, we aim to gain a granular understanding of your business, mapping existing efficient business processes and suggesting possible areas of further productivity gains through modified processes. It is then the role of our architects and developers to translate these solutions into a reality to leverage productivity gains for your business.

Enabling users to get the best from our systems.
Even what we would consider to be a "core" Nitec infrastructure solution brings with it a tremendous level of functionality. For many new clients moving from a relatively modest level of IT infrastructure, our solutions can be truly transformational.
Every network solution proposed by Nitec over the years has featured a low-cost, half-day basic server administration course, desinged to ensure at least one member of staff has a grasp of the fundamental aspects of network maintenance. The course is pitched at relatively noveice IT users and was designed with dual goals in mind. Firstly, it provides stakeholders with peace of mind that key areas like ensuring data security and backup integrity are supervised adequately. Secondly, it provides a degree of local empowerment that basic level tasks can be carried out without generating un-necessary support calls and expense.
In more recent years, the added benefit gained by effective end-user training has become increasingly evident. As a result, we also offer bespoke end-user training, designed to address the appropriate level of existing IT expertise of your staff.
Whilst training often becomes the first casualty in cost-cutting measures, those clients who have availed can atest to the measurable productivity gains experienced through ensuring their staff are empowered to leverage higher levels of functionality offered by our solutions.

Our approach to information technology has always been solutions-based. Before recommending any course of action, we aim to gain a genuine understanding of your business and unique requirements. Armed with this understanding, we can apply our expert knowledge of technology to design solutions uniquely tailored to addressing your business issues.
We aim to go beyond mere supplier and become a strategic business partner to our clients. Every managed service client can avail of regular no-cost review meetings, providing an opportunity to take a more strategic view on IT planning. We advise on every aspect of your technology requirements, from internal network design and software solutions to enhance business process to external data and voice communications. Our wide portfilio of solutions and services puts us in a unique position to provideÂÂ become a one-stop providerÂÂ to clients.

Core infrastructure solutions have always formed the backbone of Nitec's business and the company holds current Microsoft specialisms for Networking Infrastructure and Advanced Infrastructure.
The primary purpose behind a core infrastructure solution from Nitec is to rationalise your IT function in order to provide a functional and reliable IT platform for your business. Every business today is so heavily reliant on their IT systems that every hour lost through system downtime and every productivity gain leveraged through enhanced functionality can have an enormous effect on your bottom line.
Frequently, for many SME's, information technology has historically been more of a hindrance than a help with systems growing with the business in an ad-hoc fashion, unable to provide an adequate platform for growth. Our aim is to transform this situation, encouraging clients to make relistic and adequate initial investment in systems to ensure reliability and robustness, minimising the longer-term costs associated with ongoing support and providing a platform for continuing growth.
Our aim is to provide corporate-level reliability and functionality, packaged in a way that is affordable to the SME. Our solutions are a blend of market-leading HP Proliant server hardware and Microsoft software along with supplementary equipment from a number of additional select vendors. Nitec provides the local expertise that glues these vendor offerings together into a robust and functional whole.
Every one of our networks features a layered blend of security technologies, including a dedicated hardware firewall and multi-tier anti-virus and anti-spyware protection to ensure your network can withstand the threats posed by the Internet.
Whilst we refer to these networks as "core" solutions, in reality, they are remarkably functional with full messaging and collaboration capabilities provided by Microsoft Exchange Server, complete with access to mail, calendar and contacts from outside the office as a default options.
Many clients augment our core infrastructure solutions in the first phase by leveraging aspects of the rest of our solutions portfolio, such as managed print services, remote access solutions, or mobile mail capability, depending on their particular requirements. Every customer, however, benefits from the peace-of-mind that their IT platform is as extensible and future-proofed as is possible to ensure further business growth or requirements for enhanced functionality can be integarted seamlessly into the existing IT platform without unnecessary expense.

In reality, remote working solutions straddle a continuum from basic access to email, calendar and contacts when out of the office, through remote access to files via virtual private network access, to full systems and applications access thanks to Citrix remote access technology.
Every one of Nitec's core solutions brings with it the functionality necessary to access mail, calendar and contacts from out of the office whether through full Outlook access on your laptop, through Outlook Web Acccess from any Internet-connected PC, to access from a compatible mobile device.
Even this basic concept of remote access can be a massive productivity boost - particularly if you spend much of your day away from the office. The simple ability to stay in control of your mail whilst away from the office can save hours of mailbox management upon your return to the office.
With Outlook Web Access, as long as you have an Internet-connected PC at home, no further investment is necessary. If your primary system is a laptop, then we can deliver full, secure Outlook access without any further investment. And, if you currently have a mobile phone, even mobile access to email should be considered a simple redirection
Whilst virtual private network (VPN) technology is certainly decreasing in its prevalence, it can still serve as an adequate means of access to simple files, like Word and Excel documents. VPN technology allows us to create a secure connection from your client machine to the office network in order to access and amend files stored on the company network.
Undoubtedly, the most functional and fastest-growing area of remote access in our arsenal is provided via Citrix technology. Citrix enables us to provide you access not only to mail and files but also to key line-of-business applications, like accounts and ERP systems as though you were sitting in the office. Any Internet-connected PC or laptop can access Citrix, whether from home or from a coffee-shop or airport with wireless access.
Citrix remote access functionality is so comprehensive that it can facilitate those working almost permanently away from the office (whether tele-workers or a mobile sales force). Equally, it can simply restore a better work-life balance for those who are primarily office-based - removing the need for you to be shackled to your desk in order to complete the day's tasks.

SharePoint has been a true marvel - the fastest Microsoft product ever to reach the $1 billion mark in revenues. It is an immensely powerful product which is difficult to capture in just a few words. For some it is a portal product for corporate intranets, for others a document and data lifecycle management product and for others again, it is a collaborative tool to enable productive teamworking.
In truth, it is all of these things and more. SharePoint is almost a development platform of its very own and has to be one of the most wide-ranging and customisable of any product Microsoft has ever released. It's applications span an extraordinary range and there is a reasonable argument that virtually all but the most specialist line-of-business applications can have their functionality replicated in a SharePoint envirnment. This notion has incredible implications for cost-savings on not only basic licensing costs but also the reduced training costs and enhanced productivity that familiar systems bring.
Nitec has been implementing SharePoint solutions since the product released and has a strong track record in delivering value to businesses through SharePoint-based intranet solutions, document management systems, and collaborative tools. The company has held the related "Information Worker" specialisation virtually since that certification was conceived.

High quality customer relationship management (CRM) systems have traditionally been the preserve of larger organistaions but recent years have seen a shift take place with the introduction of CRM systems more in tune with the needs of the SME.
Microsoft entered the CRM marketplace several years ago with their Dynamics CRM product at a price-point affordable to SME's and with powerful but intuitive customisation options to fit any requirement.
Nitec has been developing Microsoft CRM solutions virtually since the introduction of the product and is one of just a handful of accredited Microsoft Dynamics CRM Partners in Ireland. This is an area of rapid growth for our business and our development team are now amongst the most experienced and skilled CRM solutions developers in Ireland, with a number of high profile private and public sector deployments to our name.
CRM systems can serve as a vital marketing tool to any organisation but they are arguably even better suited to SME's than larger organisations. Smaller businesses traditionally have a reputation for high levels of customer care but it is essential that, as a successful business grows, there are systems in place to ensure the high levels of customer communication and dialogue can be maintained through more than simply working harder. Additionally, the inherent nimbleness of SME's often allows them to avail of favourable pricing or stock positions but it is also vital that they can communicate these advantages to clients quickly and efficiently if they are to benefit.
A well-designed CRM system provides relief from the spreadsheet hell of mailing lists with which many SME marketers will be familiar. Add to this the fact that marketing is frequently viewed as a "part-time" activity in the typical SME in the first place and the ability to communicate easily, effectively, and in a timely fashion with clients is all the more important.

Currently celebrating our tenth anniversary year, Nitec is a multi-award winning local technology partner specialising in intelligent technology solutions designed to provide competitive advantage to our small-to-medium enterprise peers across Northern Ireland.
The company was founded with the vision of providing an IT outsourcing model to fit any size or shape of business. Our comprehensive service offering, combined with our equitable pay as you go billing model allows us to engage cost-effectively with a broad range of requirements. Whether you are a small business with no in-house IT expertise requiring an end-to-end outsourced model or a larger business with an in-house IT department simply requiring high-end second-level support and strategic guidance, Nitec is the perfect fit.
With no expensive annual maintenance contracts and a complementary comprehensive annual financial review, you have complete transparency of costs and greater certainty that the service you are receiving is delivering value-for-money to your business.
And yet, despite the lack of fixed charges, you retain the assurance of a same business day service level agreement and full no-cost infrastructure monitoring through our own proprietary network monitoring software.
The "x=" logo carries an algebraic reference, alluding to the fact that "x" is so often the solution to the problem at hand.
Nitec's simple aim is to design IT solutions that solve real business problems through Intelligent Technology. They say the first step in solving a problem is identifying it and, with this in mind, we focus on gaining a holistic and granular understanding of client's businesses and their operating environment to ensure our solutions address real business issues.
As a company, we invest heavily in new technology and R&D. This not only allows us to have complete confidence in the recommendations we make since we use the technology ourselves but also ensures that the guidance received by our clients is based on a comprehensive knowledge of every technological option available.
Nitec's close partnerships with some of the biggest names in the information technology world also enhances our ability to remain at the leading-edge, giving us almost unfettered access to new products and technologies. Nitec is the only company in Ireland to have been selected by Microsoft to participate in both the Windows Vista and Windows 7 "Technology Advancement Programmes" which saw the company play a unique role in shaping those products at a Microsoft Corporate level.
The company are recognised and respected thought-leaders within the Irish IT community, regularly contributing articles to magazines and periodicals. Managing Director, Nigel Mulholland, served two consecutive terms on the "Microsoft Worldwide SME Partner Advisory Council", charged with guiding Microsoft at corporate level on issues impacting the SME community. Sales and Marketing Director, Scott McClenaghan, is a current founder board member of the Irish Chapter of the International Association of Microsoft Certified Partners.
Nitec Solutions Ltd. began life in 1998 with the merger of Nigel Mulholland's Nitec PC Support (infrastructure and technical support specialists) and Peter McMahon's Prosoft (software development specialists).
The nascent Nitec was formed with a clearly defined vision to provide outsourced information technology expertise and end-to-end technology solutions to small-to-medium enterprises, many of whom had neither the skills nor the resources to manage their own IT strategy and systems. Nitec's aim has always been to bring corporate quality solutions to the SME in an affordable and cost-effective form.
After around 5 sucessful years based in Oakmont House in Lisburn, sustained growth eventually necessitated the serach for new, larger premises. The search led to Antrim and the keynote building in Invest NI's Technology Park at Muckamore provided an ideal state-of-the-art home for the company. The move, which involved almost £1million of private investment by Nitec’s co-owners,saw the company increase floor-space by around fivefold and has facilitated growth in staff numbers.
The company now employs almost 40 staff, servicing serveral hundred clients and offering a full portfolio of services, including network design and implementation, support, software development, and training.
Nitec’s success is largely due to an ability to design and implement complete solutions, operating as a one-stop shop to small and medium businesses, acting a complete outsourced IT department. Continuous investment in new technology and R&D has always been a hallmark of Nitec and the company is widely ackowledged as a leading-edge technology innovator. A strong commitment to staff training has also played an important part in the company’s growth and led to recognition as an “Investor in People”.Nitec is a multi-award winning company with no fewer than 17 awards of national or international recognition since 2000 for both business and technical excellence. The highlights of these, respectively, have been the Parcelforce Worldwide UK Small Business of the Year Award 2005 which saw the company win the overall UK crown as Northern Ireland’s regional representative, and in 2004 Nitec became the first Microsoft Ireland Partner ever to be nominated as Microsoft Worldwide Awards Finalists as the European Networking Infrastructure Partner of the Year for our network infrastructure solution for local manufacturer, Clarehill Plastics.
As well as finding favour with customers (and judging panels!), Nitec’s approach has attracted the interest of major players within the industry. The company has close ties with both Microsoft (Gold Certified Partner) and Hewlett Packard (Gold Preferred Partner) and has also formed partnerships with a number of other global players in the IT sector.
In the ten years since Nitec was formed, the company has found as much favour with judging panels as they have with customers and suppliers!
Nitec is a multi-award winning business, recognised at national and international level for both their technical and business excellence.
The highlights amongst these accolades have probably been the Microsoft EMEA Networking Infrastructure Partner of the Year Award in 2004 and the Parcelforce UK Small Business of the Year Award in 2005.
For a technically-focussed company, the Microsoft award was especially pleasing and saw Nitec become the first Microsoft Ireland affiliated partner ever to be nominated for a Microsoft Worldwide award. This achievement was marked at the 20 year anniversary celebrations of the Microsoft Ireland subsidiary when Nitec Managing Director, Nigel Mulholland, was presented with a crystal commemoration by Microsoft CEO, Steve Ballmer, at a gala lunch in front of the creme de la creme of IT and business dignitaries in Ireland.
In terms of the many business excellence awards the company has achieved, the UK-wide Parcelforce Small Business of the Year Award has been an undoubted highlight. This competition which sees regional winners compete for the overall national crown is the largest of its type in the UK, attracting some 2,000 entrants in the year Nitec were crowned champions. The company was immensely proud to bring home the UK crown as Northern Ireland's representative and to be described as "clear winners" when up against the very best small business from across the UK on the night.
Nitec has also been recognised for business excellence by the Federation of Small Business, picking up the Small Business Champions Award for Northern Ireland in 2003.
Nitec has been recognised as one of Deloitte's 50 fastest growing technology companies in Ireland on no fewer than six occasions, making the company one of the most consistent members of that elite group. The company was also recognised as one of the fastest 500 growing companies in all of Europe in 2003.
This remarkable growth profile, maintained over a sustained period is a real tribute to the quality of service we provide.
The company has also been honoured for its contribution to wider society and is the proud holder of a NICVA "Link Award" for its contribution of services to Omagh Communty House, an active commemoration of victims of the terrible atrocity suffered by the town in August 1998. In addition to these judged awards, the company is a currently accredited "Investor In People".

Experience
Throughout my student life I seemed to get drawn into peoples computer problems. This grew from helping fellow students to small businesses. A year spent running the computer systems in a busy GP practice, 18 months spent teaching a "introduction to computing" in a college evening class to business folk all reinforced my interest in starting my own computing business.
After completing my teacher training, I started Nitec. I reckoned that there was a niche for good quality technical expertise on tap. That vision remains, unchanged after 5 years.

Nitec partners with a select group of companies to deliver end-to-end solutions to our clients. We place a great deal of value in our relationships with these key strategic partners and boast strong links with some of the most influential names in the global IT industry.
Our solutions-based approach to IT requires that we cultivate partnerships of this nature so as to ensure we have access to the products and services necessary to make our vision of a solution become a reality.
These partnerships give us the ability to design and implement high quality end-to-end solutions. Our core infrastructure solutions, for example, are built upon market-leading Hewlett Packard Proliant server hardware running software from the Windows Server family, networked using HP Procurve switches and Cisco routers, all secured with Watchguard and Symantec security products, and connected to the outside world through British Telecom's unsurpassed data network. With additional options of unmatched Hewlett Packard printing, remote access solutions from Citrix, mobile solutions facilitated by BT Mobile and RIM's Blackberry devices, and LAN-faxing facilities from Equisys, it is easy to see how these partnerships are integral to ensuring our solutions are "best-of-breed".
Our close relationships to our partners also provides us with exclusive early access to new technologies. This access, combined with our unmatched commitment to R&D of new tehcnology, helps keep us on the bleeding edge of development within the IT sector and places us in a strong position to advise clients on the potential applications of new product and technologies, often long before they have entered mainstream consciousness.
Nitec's association with Microsoft goes back to the company's inception and this association has been one of the constants in the company's development.
The company is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner with numerous specialisms, a Small Business Specialist, and a Microsoft Dynamics CRM Certified Partner and is one of just ten "managed partners" in Ireland.
Nitec is a committed Microsoft Partner with every one of our solutions built on their innovative and robust technology platforms. From core infrastructure solutions based on the Windows Server suite of products to business solutions based on the Microsoft Dynamics and .NET platforms, like many companies in the Microsoft ecosystem, Nitec's ongoing success has been hand-in hand with that of Microsoft Ireland.
The relationship is suprisingly symbiotic, however, as Nitec has supported the Irish subsidiary in every way possible through a phenomenal period of growth.
Nitec was the first Microsoft Ireland Partner ever to receive a nomination for the "Worldwide Partner Awards", a feat which saw Managing Director, Nigel Mullholand, receive an award from Microsoft CEO, Steve Ballmer. Nigel also served two consecutive terms on the "Microsoft Worldwide SME Partner Advisory Council", charged with guiding Microsoft at corporate level on issues impacting the SME community. Sales and Marketing Director, Scott McClenaghan, is a current founder board member of the Irish Chapter of the International Association of Microsoft Certified Partners.
Nitec is also the only company to have been nominated to participate in the "Technology Advancement Programme" for both Windows Vista and the upcoming Windows 7 - a scheme which is a vital feedback mechanism in shaping the final release products at Microsoft corporate level.

"The love of technology permeates all that they do and their enthusiasm is catching. Within Nitec, the sense of commitment to customer satisfaction is incredibly high. The ethos seems to be grounded in understanding the customer in order to give them best advice. One of the best aspects of working with Nitec is the knowledge that Microsoft is guaranteed constructive feedback to help us improve further".
Donna Gibson, Partner Manager (Microsoft Ireland).
Nitec is one of just 4 Hewlett Packard Gold Preferred Partners in Northern Ireland and the company is a Hewlett Packard Accredited Service Delivery Partner, which means the company's technician's are qualified to carry out warranty service on behalf of HP for our clients.
Nitec has been a Hewlett Packard Business Partner ever since the company's inception but the relationship took on a new dimension in 2001 when the company, originally a Gateway supplier, made a strategic decision to switch to HP as their primary hardware partner.
In 2002, Nitec was appointed as a "Hewlett Packard Centre of Excellence". Soon after this appointment, the merger between Hewlett Packard and Compaq took place to create, in our opinion, what remains quite simply the finest technology company in the world.
Hewlett Packard's reputation for innovation is legendary, with an annual R&D spend almost twice that of their nearest rival and the fit between the global technology leader and the local technology innovator has proved to be virtually perfect.
In addition, both the quality and range of products offered by the technology giant is unsurpassed. No other IT company can claim the breadth of product offering of HP, covering almost every conceivable requirement of the SME, and the close association between Nitec and HP further represents the notion of the one-stop shop.
The two companys have long represented the perfect synergy between global presence and local expertise with frequent co-branded marketing campaigns and technology events.
The long-standing relationship has allowed Nitec to build up an enviable level of engagement with HP with access to senior staff at a local subsidiary level. Nitec is also the frequent benficiary of early development product directly from HP's U.S. headquarters, providing a unique opportunity to feed back on product direction.

"Nitec is a key player in HP's go to market strategy in Northern Ireland. The core values of looking after customers and increasing the value IT brings to businesses is unsurpassed! HP is delighted to work in co-operation with such a strong partner".
Martin Cullen, General Manager for PSG SPO (Hewlett Packard Ireland).
"HP are delighted to have Nitec as a Gold Partner, strategic to growth within the Northern Ireland market. Nitec provides real business solutions to their customers, utilizing HP technologies to provide stable, affordable and highly performant solutions. Nitec has expertise within the complete HP portfolio, from ProCurve networking solutions to utilising our client and server technologies to provide business critical systems to customers".
Joanne O’Doherty, Partner Business Manager (Hewlett Packard Ireland).
Nitec has a long-standing relationship with the global telecoms giant and has been reselling a range of data communications products from their range for many years. Indeed, Nitec was the first company in Northern Ireland to install an ADSL circuit in 2001 at their former Lisburn premises.
Whilst Nitec has been a long-standing BT Data Partner, the relationship has taken on a new dimension in the last couple of years as the companys have worked more closely together and Nitec has added BT voice communications offerings to its portfolio.
The reasons behind Nitec's selection of British Telecom as their primary communications partner are simple: the reach of their core network in Northern Ireland is unsurpassed, the breadth of their offering is unmatched, and their support infrastructure is unrivalled by any other provider.
BT has made continual investment in their core infrastructure at a level that no other provider can sustain. The geographical coverage that this investment has brought is vital considering Nitec's client-base is province-wide. Northern Ireland was the first U.K. geography to benefit from 100% broadband coverage thanks to multi-million pound investment between BT and the Department of Trade, Enterprise and Investment.
Not only is their coverage unrivalled but the range of products facilitated by this network has increased markedly over time. The ongoing multi-billion pound investment in the 21st Century Network (21CN) is facilitating new wide area network connection technologies which represent a virtual paradigm shift in terms of value-for-money. Nitec designs and supplies data communication solutions using the entire range of BT's portfolio: from simple ADSL through leased line and into LAN Extension (LES) technologies.
BT's unrivalled support infrastructure is another key factor in this partnership. Nitec's strong relationship with BT gives us access to senior support and pre-sales staff which positions us strongly to support the solutions we supply in partnership with BT.
The expanded partnership into supply of BT voice communications and the partnership with BT Mobile are combining to allow Nitec to provide highly cost-effective and holistic voice communications solutions to our clientele.
Read more about British Telecom...
"British Telecom's partnership with Nitec stretches back a long way - indeed they were the first company in Northern Ireland to install a BT ADSL circuit in 2001. Nitec is a company incredibly well versed in the complete portfolio of WAN technologies and they work proactively with us to ensure their knowledge is current as we continue to invest heavily in our product range. This puts them in a position of enviable strength in ensuring that their clients receive the very best guidance possible when considering site-to-site communications options. The more recent addition of our voice communication products to their offering has seen them become an increasingly important partner to BT and we are delighted to continue to broaden our co-operation".
Kevin Boyle, Partner Sales Manager (BT Business).
Nitec has long been recognised as an innovator at the very vanguard of mobile data solutions with experience in this area dating back almost the full 10 years of the company's operation.
For many years, Nitec's approach to mobile was to concentrate on the design and implementation of the technical solution, whilst simply advising clients on the selection of a mobile provider.
The single weakness of this approach was that it did not provide us with the end-to-end control over solutions that we have in virtually every other area of the business. Occassionally, faults outside our control at the mobile provider side would cause frustration for us in pursuit of the highest levels of customer service delivery.
As a result of this, a little over a year ago, the company made a strategic decision to seek out a formal partner in this area in order to gain greater control over the end-to-end solution. A comprehensive analysis of potential partner organisations revealed a clear synergy in the form of an existing partner, British Telecom. With our existing high levels of engagement with BT, it was a short journey to the decision to extend our relationship and become a BT Mobile Indirect Partner.
BT Mobile, whilst a relatively recent entrant in the market at that point in time, was already making waves with a Blackberry-based solution that re-defined the cost model for what was traditionally considered an excellent but relatively costly product.
Nitec had long admired Research In Motion's Blackberry solution. It had always seemed to be an ideal fit for the organisation with such a high proportion of clients already running the Exchange Server messaging platform, the preferred partner product for the more comprehensive version of the Blackberry solution. The relatively high price premium associated with Blackberry products had always simpy been considered too great to recommend to clients.
With the substantially reduced price proposition offered by BT Mobile as regards Blackberry, the one remaining hurdle was lifted and Nitec, in association with BT Mobile, now have a substantial Blackberry voice and data user-base built-up.
“Nitec approaches the mobile market with a long and successful mobile data solutions heritage – their long experience gives them a unique insight into the issues faced by clients. Their technical expertise is simply unsurpassed, allowing them to offer an end-to-end solution from back-end servers to front-end mobile devices. With data communication becoming an increasingly important element of the mobile communications mix, Nitec has proved to be an ideal fit for BT Mobile and has become one of our fastest growing partners”.
Enda McLarnon, BT Business North, Mobility Partner & Operation's Manager, (BT Ireland).
Nitec has partnered with WatchGuard as their preferred gateway security solution provider since 2001. Nitec is the only "Expert Partner" in Ireland and one of just 8 in the U.K..
In our considered opinion, WatchGuard products are of the very highest quality and have always represented the most compelling value proposition in the security appliance market for the SME and beyond.
The Firebox System acts as a network gatekeeper, using powerful firewall technology to control access into and out of your network. Virtual private network solutions ensure private business communications over the Internet to branch offices, mobile users and telecommuters.
In terms of Internet threats, we have no doubt that the security offered by the "zero-day" protection of WatchGuard's Firebox System has been instrumental over the years in protecting clients from the cost and turmoil caused by security breaches.
Our long-standing and high-level relationship with WatchGuard puts us in an incredible position of privelege with WatchGuard, with unfettered access to high level technical support and pre-sales resource.
Nitec is a trusted partner to WatchGuard and are frequently given opportunities to influence the product development process and feed back on beta product.
"Nitec is our leading Expert Partner in Ireland and has continually pushed the value-add model of best-of-breed security to their end-user customers. With the in-depth knowledge they have gained, they are able to offer top-class security solutions through the cost effective and award-winning WatchGuard platform and they are ideally placed to partner with WatchGuard as we take the next step with our XTM range of products".
Vinod Chamdal, UK & Ireland Territory Manager (WatchGuard).
Nitec has been supplying CA's data protection products since 2001 and has been a CA Channel Partner since 2005.
CA's Arcserve backup product has been an integral feature of Nitec's solutions portfolio for many years and constant development and innovation in the product has seen it remain our number one choice in this vital area to client peace of mind.
The two organisations have built up a close relationship over the last five years or so and Nitec now enjoys access to high-level support and pre-sales resource within the Computer Associates hierarchy.
“CA has an almost ten year history of successful partnership with Nitec. We are delighted to be the data protection solution of choice for one of the premier IT partners to the SME in Northern Ireland through our Arcserve product range. This partnership continues to grow and develop and we would view Nitec as one of our key partners in Ireland“.
Fergal Hennigan, Channel Account Manager
Symantec has been Nitec's security partner of choice since the company commenced trading and the partnership now stretches back some 10 years.
Nitec is currently the only SMB partner in Northern Ireland to have achieved the "Symantec Technical Assistance Partner Program" status, a demonstration of the company's technical knowledge and expertise of the Symantec security product range.
Nitec has always favoured the "multi-tier", enterprise anti-virus product from Symantec which provides a layered security approach, scanning email at the mail gateway as well as on the client machines to maximise the opportunity of detecting threats.
The combination between Symantec's multi-tier protection and the long-standing Watchguard network gateway security solution has formed a formidable barrier to incoming threats and has undoubtedly contributed heavily to ensuring the integrity of Nitec client sites over the years.
Nitec's ongoing relationship with Symantec ensures an extremely thorough knowledge of their product suite and our ability to support the solution is unrivalled as a result.
"Nitec are a key SMB partner to Symantec, consistently demonstrating their technical aptitude of Symantec Technologies. My congratulations to them on achieving 'Symantec Technical Assistance Partner Program' status, the only SMB partner in Northern Ireland to have achieved the designation. When it comes to security Nitec definitely know what they are talking about".
Ross Walker, Small Business Director (Symantec).
Nitec has been partnered with Citrix for remote access solutions for almost 5 years now and the company currently holds the Citrix Silver Solutions Advisor accreditation.
Remote access has been an area of incredible growth for Nitec in that period. A combination of changing work habits, increasing reliance on IT systems, and rapid developments in data communications has created the perfect storm for groth in the demand for remote access solutions. Remote access solutions deliver tremendous productivity gains which provide a very rapid and easily demonstrable return on investment. Many of Nitec's customers (both large and small) have made this investment and would now be unable to live without this enabling technology.
Citrix has been a phenomenal success story. The company formed just 20 years ago became the market-leader in remote access computing within 5 years of its formation and has remained in a pre-eminent position ever since. The company works in close partnership with Microsoft with the two organisations cross-licensing the other's technology.
Citrix has begun to diversify into virtualisation and other forms of remote aplication delivery with rapid develpoments in this area in just the last couple of years. Microsoft's licensing of Citrix's virtualisation technology is another example of their close collaboration.
This close partnership between two of Nitec's most important strategic partners positions us ideally to benefit from the exciting technologies that the collaboration continues to deliver.
“Nitec’s five year partnership with Citrix has seen them increase our penetration markedly within the SME sector in Northern Ireland. They have proved to be an ideal partner to leverage on the introduction of the Citrix Access Essentials product, specifically designed for this sector. Their remarkable ability to translate technology solutions into real-world benefits positions them strongly to demonstrate the value in our solutions. The close relationship between Citrix and Microsoft has seen the relationship between our two organisations continue to broaden into other product areas, both directly and indirectly“.
Oliver Reddyhough, Reseller Manager, Ireland (Citrix).
Nitec has been supplying Equisys LAN fax solutions since the company began trading and has been an Equisys Solutions Partner since 2001.
Whilst the general use of fax amongst clients has undoubtedly decreased in this time, Equisys continues to innovate with their Zetafax product and it remains the product of choice for Nitec with a number of high-volume and high-profile installs.
"Nitec has been a valued Equisys Solution Partner for a number of years integrating Zetafax with the latest server platforms . We are rigorous in ensuring that our partners adhere to our core values of outstanding customer service and support and Nitec has consistently delivered in each of these areas".
Gregory Cole, Equisys Support Manager (Equisys).
Nitec has been entrusted the reliability of their wide area networks solutions to Cisco since the company started trading.
Nitec has been a Cisco Authorised Reseller since 2000 and a Cisco Registered Partner since 2004.
Cisco remains the market leading in networking technologies and Nitec has built up a vast experience of installing and supporting their equipment.
"Comment from Citrix discussing the quality of relationship between the two organisations".
